BOX BATH

‘Box Bath’ has a toilet box at the heart of the room. The box provides privacy while separating and organizing the key bathroom functions: tub, shower, and lavatory station. The bottom section of the box is a red marble plinth whose datum is picked up in several locations through a maroon ceramic tile with custom edge trim along the outter bath walls. Stainless steel elements provide contrast to the warm, saturated palette, adding a crisp, utilitarian edge.Light is treated as a material, carving across tiled surfaces and activating the depth of color and texture throughout the space. Recessed niches and built-in elements are built directly out of the tiled volume, reinforcing the idea of the room as a series of solid forms rather than applied layers. Lush greenery is embedded into the architecture, softening the geometry and introducing a living counterpoint to the dense mineral surfaces.
